My Experience and How I Work
As a fully qualified Psychotherapist I have treated a wide range of issues in a variety of settings. I work from the heart and often with humour, which has a great capacity to heal. My approach is integrative, where I draw upon several modalities, this includes Psychodynamic (early life experiences and development), Humanistic (person centred and self-actualisation), Existential (the human condition with aspirations and limitations) and the Transpersonal (focusing on growth and potential).
As research consistently shows, the most important part of any therapy is the relationship with the therapist. Each session is as unique and individual as my client, and how I work is determined by what is presented, and the desired outcome.
There is a period of getting to know each other where there is an initial assessment and we discuss what you would like to get out of sessions. Generally, we will discuss your background, where you are now and where you would like to be. I work narratively and often creatively through dreams, symbology, inner child, bodywork and art, as this can be an influential means of guidance and transformation.
The practice of psychotherapy is continually developing and I continue to educate myself through research and training courses. My interests include unresolved childhood grief, neuroscience, trauma and childhood development.
